Happy New Year Hawks
I trust you and your family had a safe and happy festive season. With 2012 now here, time for an update!
Season Start
The first game for Season 2012 kicks off on 1st April (no joke), just before the Easter break. The draw will begin to be finalised in mid February and available to us at some time in March.
Player Registration
Registration days have been confirmed as follows:
4th February – Stockland Mall, Baulkham Hills
5th February – Bunnings at Norwest
12th February – Charlie Club Rooms
Timings will be confirmed towards the end of January.
The fees for the season are as follows:
Auskick 5-8 years $60.00
Youth Girls $60.00
U9-U12s $150.00
U13-U16s $165.00
Our Registration Day at Charlie is “Bring a Friend” day where kids can come along and have a kick of the footy – there may even be some special guests on hand for autographs and photos! The first 5 existing Baulko players who bring a friend that registers for the season will receive a family pass to the first GWS game being played on Saturday, 24th March against Sydney Swans at ANZ Stadium.
Don’t forget, we also have a Girls’ comp, so bring along your sisters and their friends as well.
Please ensure you register as soon as possible.
Teams for 2012
A first draft of team numbers for 2012 has been submitted to the GSJ. At the moment, it looks like we will have 2 teams in each grade, with the exception of U13s and U14s, but this may easily change over the coming weeks.
Teams need to be finalised with the GSJ by the middle of February which is why it is important to have players registered as soon as possible.
New Footy Jumpers
We are awaiting the arrival of our new footy jumpers. Our new jumpers will feature our sponsors, Xstream Plumbing. I would like to sincerely thank Xstream for their ongoing support to our Club.
Facility Improvements
The new season is off to a good start and we have had some major facility improvements – new drainage has been installed at the ground which should hopefully give us more ground usage then in the past. At the moment the ground looks like something out of a sci-fi movie with the grid across it from where the drainage pipes have been laid and covered with sand.
We are also waiting to hear whether we have been successful with a grant to improve our lighting, and we should hear more on this next month.
We are also looking at ways to give our Club House a bit of a face lift. In the survey that was sent around last season, the appearance of our club was identified as a key area for improvement. We are applying for a grant to help us do this, and depending on this success will determine what we can do.
Coaches
We are in the final stages of coach appointments. Our coaches have a very significant role within our Club, and our coaching philosophy has a large influence over the culture that exists within our Club.
I thank all the coaches for their commitment for the upcoming season.
Plans for coaching development are due to be finalised by the end of January to enable the Club to provide support to our coaches for skills development, and to guide the Club throughout the year on areas of focus.
If you are interested in becoming a coach of the future, please let me know as there are accreditation courses being run by the AFL on a regular basis.
Unfilled Committee Positions
We are still in need of some more volunteers from the Club to fill some committee positions as follows:
Canteen Co-ordinator
Fundraising Manager
Operations Manager
If you are able to assist in any way with any of these positions, please let me know urgently.
Thank you to Jan Pulo who has agreed to take on the role of First Aid Co-ordinator for the Club. The AFL have implemented a requirement to have a first aid qualified person at the ground for all home games, otherwise games will not proceed. Thank you Jan!
I hope you find this information useful as you plan for the upcoming year. There is a lot happening at the moment and plenty to come for the season.
Remember, register as soon as possible, and if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Go the Hawks!
